PTFE Chemical Properties:
Resistant against the strongest corrosive substances, like hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, sulphuric acid and nitric acid, hot sodium hydroxide solution or nitrogen oxides. PTFE is not soluble in most common solvents, such as alcoholes, esters, ketones and petrol.


PTFE( Polytetrafluorethylene)Moleculare Structure:
• PTFE is characterized by long chain molecules consisting of recurring tetrafluorethylene monomer units.
• The carbon-fluorine bond has a dissociation energy of 460 kJ/Mol
and represents one of the strongest bonds in organic chemistry.
• The PTFE chain adopts a slightly twisting helix with a carbon-based core and an outer sheath of fluorine atoms which completely shields the chain backbone from chemical attack.

PTFE is a long-chain molecular structure formed by the single-body polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene.

The fluorocarbon chemical bond energy is 460 KJ/Mol,which is the strongest chemical bond in organic chemistry.

PTFE consists of two helical polymer chains intertwined with a carbon-carbon chemical bond at the center and a complete protecive layer of fluorine atoms outside,effectively preventing the attack of other chemicals.



Light/Weather Resistance:
PTFE is totally resistant to UV-radiation, weather and environmental influences.
PTFE-Membranes show no ageing orebrittlement due to UV-radiation.
This performance is achieved without plasticizer, antioxidants, UV-absorbers etc. which could migrate out.

PTFE can completely resist the influence of ultraviolet radiation,climate and environment.

PTFE will not be aged and brittle by ultraviolet radiation.

PTFE  materials do not contain easily removable plasticizers,antioxidants,ultraviolet absorbents,etc.

PTFE Surface Self-cleaning Properties

The forces of attraction between adjacent chains of PTFE are very weak due to the fluorine envelope of the chain molecules which cannot be easily polarized. The molecules are macroscopically nonpolar. The surface energy is one of the lowest known (approx. 18.5 mN/m) and leads to the anti-adhesive nature of PTFE. Therefore PTFE-Membranes exhibit good self-cleaning and water repellant properties. (contact angle > 130o)

Bleached by sunlight
PTFE membrane is PTFE coated Fiberglass fabric material. PTFE is a very inert material if it is solid state. We have to melt it then coat it on the fiberglass fabric, the coating near 10 times. Fiberglass always becomes yellow and yellow during the coating process in the baking boxes(temperature is more than 400℃), so this kind of material always is brown color when produced.
But PTFE membrane can absorb UV Light from Sunlight, then become whiter and whiter, it can be bleached fully by sunlight, more UV is quicker. In South, needs about 4 months; in North, needs about 6 month.

PTFE Useful-life
PTFE membrane is the material that PTFE coated Fiberglass fabric, PTFE is very inert material and has self-clean ability, the fiberglass fabric is inorganic material and low elongation. So, PTFE membrane’s Useful-life can surpass 25 years.
